Alex BenedictoOne of our favorite cons of the year comes with a few changes this year. First, DesignerCon a.k.a. Dcon, will have a new home this year at the Anaheim Convention Center. This new venue will accommodate the growth Dcon has experienced the past few years. They have 700+ vendors and 300+ artists occupying Hall C & Hall D. Second, they extended the event for two days and three days if you get a VIP ticket.
If you like going to comic conventions and meeting/talking to artists in Artist Alley then this con is for you. Your typical comic con’s main attractions are TV/movie celebrities and panels with less focus on the artists. Imagine a con where this is flipped and the focus is on showcasing the artists with a few panels thrown in. And the few celebrities you might see at Dcon most likely will be walking the floor aisles checking out all the art work like Flavor Flav last year. We like to call Dcon one big Artist Alley where you will find artists of all types, from illustrators, sculptors, painters, to toy makers and many more.
This is a great opportunity to meet and talk to some of your favorite artists and discover new ones you never seen before. And with the beginning of the Holiday season you can start your Christmas gift shopping here. With a wide variety of art, from paintings/prints and sculptures to toys and clothing and accessories, we are pretty sure you can find a few presents for loved ones or yourself.
Designer Con is an annual art and design convention that smashes together collectible toys and designer goods with urban, underground and pop art! DCon is over 350,000 sq. ft. and features over 500 vendors, art & custom shows, live demonstrations, and much more! The show coordinators strive to provide a fun, safe, comfortable environment for fans, artists, and vendors to meet.
