Show Notes:
Hello fellow nerds, geeks and supporters of indie pop culture creators! Aaron Nabus here and thank you so much for tuning into the Hall H Show!
Joining me on this episode is the multi-talented Neal Hallford! I know him as a filmmaker, fellow sponsor of the International Mobile Film Festival (which takes place in San Diego, CA on April 29 and 30, 2023), comic convention panel moderator, and Co-Executive Producers (with his wife, Jana) at Swords & Circuitry where they produce the audio drama, Uncharted Regions as well as indie movies such as The Case of Evil.
He also is well known for being a lead designer and lead writer for various video games. One such game is Betrayal at Krondor. This year, Betrayal at Krondor will be celebrating its 30th anniversary and Neal has created a Betrayal at Krondor – Fan Film Challenge to coincide with it. Submissions are now open and will run through May 12, 2023.

ANNIVERSARY MEET-UP EVENT – This is a shortened link to our Facebook Event for the Anniversary Meetup in Eugene. Whether or not people are on Facebook, they should be able to access it without an account. I don’t know if they can mark themselves as going or not though. This is also where we will hand out the Gauntlet of Glory, which is the overall winner of the Challenge.
BETRAYAL AT KRONDOR FAN FILM CHALLENGE INFO PAGE – All the information that people should need to learn more about the challenge, a very brief history of the game, list o judges, links to press, and direct links to the submission page on FilmFreeway AND the Anniversary Meet Up Event. (This is the closest thing to one-stop shopping for all of this). http://KrondorFFC.com
FILM FREEWAY SUBMISSION LINK – This is a direct link to where people can submit their films for the challenge. Because of the funky way that FilmFreeway classifies the challenge, people can’t do a general search to find it on their website but MUST either use the link provided below, or follow the explicit URL link from a website pointed directly at it. http://FilmFreeway.com/KrondorFFC
KRONDOR CONFIDENTIAL – These are a collection of blogs about the creation of Betrayal at Krondor that Neal had on Tumblr a few years ago, but they never got much traffic over there. He’s in the process of relocating stuff to Substack, and so far he’s getting much better traffic and response there. He’ll be continuing with the transition of materials over there for the next couple of weeks. http://NealHallford.com
BETRAYAL AT KRONDOR LET’S PLAY PLAYLIST – There are several places on YouTube and Twitch where you can find playthroughs, but Kikosia has a massive number of subscribers, and provides a pretty complete picture of the game. https://youtu.be/ehgsxgIIWfE
BETRAYAL AT KRONDOR ON GOG.COM (previously Good Old Games) – This is the best place to get a copy of Betrayal at Krondor that’s been modified so that it can run on any PC. Folks can get it, along with Return to Krondor and the completely unrelated game Betrayal at Antara (I have no idea why they lump that last one in there). The whole bundle runs six bucks. Betrayal at Krondor Pack on GOG.com
BETRAYAL AT KRONDOR STUFF PLAYLIST ON YOUTUBE – This is a YouTube list where Neal has been dumping his Betrayal at Krondor “Betrayal Bits” which are all 1 minute reels about the trivia behind Betrayal at Krondor. He posts new ones every Tuesday and Thursday, and will be endeavoring to do so until the anniversary event. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB9C1A394984C940E
