Show Notes:

Hey fellow nerds…welcome to the Hall H Show!  Aaron Nabus here with my Co-host Alex Benedicto!

On this episode, we are joined by our friend, artist Eric Ninaltowski.

He is well known for his sketch card work for Upper Deck, Rittenhouse, and Crytozoic Entertainment as well as his awesome tribute and commission work. Like his three panel Justice League Darkseid War Sketch cover and Thundercats tribute piece.

We first met him on Free Comic Book day earlier this year at the El Cajon Comics-n-stuff location here in San Diego where he was selling some prints and also a graphic novel that he pencilled, called Monomyth…which was written by Siike Donnelly and published by OSSM comics.

Eric was also one of the original artists that we featured at our first ever artist meet and greet event at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con…which we called “Artists Assemble SDCC”

We saw him recently at Stan Lee’s LA Comic Con and asked him to be on the show!

Here are a few questions that we asked him:

How was your LA Comic con?

What was 13 year old Eric like? Where did you grow up?

When did you know that you wanted to become an artist?

What made you decide to move to San Diego?

On your site, you have a pretty sweet X-men tribute…and you state that Jim Lee is your favorite artist. It’s easy to be a fan of his work…but why were you particularly drawn to him?

You recently did a Arch Angel commission for LA Comic con. I love how you provided a pretty cool breakdown of the different stages. Can you explain a little bit why you provided those? I’m sure you get a lot of questions about your process from sketching to inking.

You seem to have a busy con schedule. Which cons are you usually at.

What other cons will you be at this year?

I’m big on daily routines. If I don’t do my daily calendar and get my 30 min cardio in before I go to work…I feel off.

With your busy schedule how do you stay organized? What time of day are you most productive?

How do you find a good work life balance?

Who are some of your mentors?

Earlier we talked about Jim Lee, any other artists that you are a fan of?

With your busy schedule, Do you have time read comics? Any comic book recommendations?

What type of advice would you give to an aspiring artist?

If you weren’t an artist…what would you be?

What’s one thing about you that your fans would be surprised to know?

What are you working on now?

If I gave you a million dollars what would you do with it?

Thanks again to Eric for being a guest on the Hall H Show! Thank YOU for listening and please start getting SDCCfit for SDCC now – so that you’ll have a much better convention experience later!

Peace, Cheers and see you next time!
