Ep. 51 – Andy Lorenzana (DesignerCon 2017)

The Hall H Show podcast welcomes Andy Lorenzana.  This conversation took place at DesignerCon 2017 and is also available on Google Play, iTunesStitcher, iHeart Radio and Spotify. The Hall H Show podcast is hosted by Aaron Nabus and Alex Benedicto.

Show Notes:

Exclusive collectible products, inspired by roots, culture, art and music.

That is the tagline of Watermoon Studios, which is owned and operated by Andy Lorenzana, an artist and designer from San Diego, CA.

His custom “Barrel Man” line of collectibles is all about taking something old and familiar, especially if you are Filipino and giving it a unique pop culture spin. This is definitely evident with the many influences in his art work such as of A Tribe Called Quest, Marvel, Star Wars and even Lapu-Lapu, considered by many to be the first Filipino hero for his resistance of Spanish colonization.

It’s been great to see Andy’s offerings grow as he continues to have fun experimenting, refining the design process and also seeing people’s first reaction when they lift up the barrel.

On behalf of my co-host, Alex Benedicto, I’m Aaron Nabus and we hope you enjoy our DesignerCon 2017 interview with Andy Lorenzana. Please also check out the video version of this conversation on our YouTube channel or the blog post for this episode on our website, HallH.com.

If you will be attending DesignerCon 2018, which takes place in Anaheim, CA, November 16-18, 2018, make sure to stop by booth 2234, which he will be sharing with fellow artist, Pett Project.

In addition to this audio podcast, below is the video version of our conversation.
